Visual Contrast
I really like the contrasting colors and also the contrast of the flamingo's long hard skinny legs against her bigger soft pink body.
Friendship
My girl Lucy on the right with her cousin who is about the same age. They are best of friends but her cousin was being a little crabby so I took a pic of their feet instead.
Before and After
Lucy's face at the beginning of the merry-go-round ride (she wasn't too sure about it), and her face towards the end of the ride (she was really starting to enjoy it).
Dark
This is a photo of the bride and her father at the wedding I went to on Friday, she asked me after the dinner if I could snap some shots of the dance because her photographer left for the day. I was pretty nervous, and it was really dark, so the shots didn't turn out too great. My settings were all wrong, I don't have a speedlight, and I'd been drinking (probably why my settings were all wrong, don't drink and take pictures kids!) Anyways, I was able to salvage a few shots, but any tips on how to take pics in low light settings without a fancy speedlight would be greatly appreciated.
I love the shot of the flamingos! Also, the picture of the girls feet is realy priceless! Thanks for sharing these! Hope you enjoy the end of your weekend!

Love these shots...... the dark shot has such a sweetness about it. I think that friendship shot should be on a card! All great!
ReplyDeleteThe friendship shot is just so adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe before and after is such a great capture and the friendship shot conveys the theme wonderfully even without their faces.
ReplyDeletelove the friendship shot - too cute. I wish I had some tips on the reception shot - I have the utmost respect for wedding photographers!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! The friendship one is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I really like the flamingo shot, sorry not really sure how to help you out with the darkness shooting, i'm sure you had your ISO cranked up, sometimes we are at the mercy of our equipment unfortunatly (i do have a Kobre lightscoop which does help with the aweful on board flash!)!
ReplyDeleteSince when did photographers leave that early during the reception? I think it looks nice though. I love your friendship composition.
ReplyDeleteyour friendship photo is fabulous and your daughters face too cute
ReplyDeleteGreat captures! Love your before picture... I've seen that same face here! LOVE the idea of taking a picture of their feet when they're being crabby! =P Great collection! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comments everyone. And Ashley, my friend told me that she hired her for only 6 hours, and things started later than expected. Maybe she charged more for the whole day, not sure?
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Love your friendship shot...and what a great idea! Focus on the feet when they are making sour faces.... Which is all the time.. Grrr.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Your little girl is so sweet! Love the friendship photo and the visual contrast! Flamingos are so cool! :)

These are fabulous! I love the flamingo and the dangling feet are so cute!
ReplyDeleteAnne, That was me that made the comment above, but under a new account. I just changed my blog address to debduty.com which for some reason created a new google account. It's confusing, but I'm excited that my blog address will be much shorter now!
ReplyDeleteGreat series. Love the visual contrast and the before and after. I also like the feet idea. I would have blown the shot because I wouldn't have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous visual contrast in the flamingo shot! Nicely done. Thanks for linking in to Exploring with a Camera!
