Our Christmas Card and Then Some

I finally mailed out Christmas cards this morning. Which means people won't receive them until after Christmas. Oh well, I tried, but of course I procrastinated, because that's just what I do. Might be a good New Year's resolution to work on, or maybe the year after instead.

Here are some that didn't make the card, but now that I think on it, I should have put them all on the card, because these really show my kids' different personalities. Except for the crying, I'm surprised there was no crying this year.

Me and Coffee...Friends Again

Coffee and I are finally friends again.  The road has been pretty rocky these last few months.  Usually my mornings began with me stumbling out of bed and getting the littles up and fed, then reheating a cup of coffee already a couple hours old because the hubs gets up at 5:00 am to milk cows.  Well this particular morning at the very end of August (also our 6 yr wedding anniversary) I looked at the coffee pot and thought...hmm, no thanks.  This struck me as very odd behavior (for me), but maybe I was sick of drinking coffee because I've had a couple cups of the stuff every day since, well, the last time I had morning sickness.

I then just felt off, not right, slightly yucky feeling, for the next couple of days.  Maybe I'm coming down with an end of summer flu bug?  Then my sister-in-law suggested jokingly that I might be pregnant again.  The doom kind of music played in my head,  you know, the kind you hear in movies, and then it hit me.  Yes, I had all the symptoms, and no period.  A test confirmed it, I was surprised, happy, and then sick, and so coffee and I began our battle.

(me at about 12 weeks)

The smell and sight of it turned my stomach almost as bad as the smell of everything else plus onions (which still turns my stomach).  I told Chuck to make his coffee in the basement so I wouldn't have to look at the awful stuff.  I thought we (coffee, not Chuck) would never get back together.  Then one morning, many many weeks later (at about week 17 of pregnancy) it happened.  I had a small cup and it wasn't that bad, in fact, it was even a little comforting.  Since that day our relationship has grown, but I still try not to have more than one cup a day.  At 20 weeks now, I finally feel like myself again, just 15 lb. heavier.

Yes, it is nice to have an old friend back in my life.

Hello!

Yes, it has been awhile, life happens. And that's okay, it's good to take a break and regroup. However, there was also another little reason for this break...

We are expecting #3 in late April 2014, a little bit of a surprise but very welcome. I was very sick with morning sickness for about 3 months, I could barely get off the couch. But now I feel much better and am halfway through with the pregnancy.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this little blog of mine, but lets just see what happens.

Please leave a comment to let me know you are still out there and I'll stop by and say hello! Oh, and this might be a stupid question, but how do you reply to comments with email? I should know this by now, but I don't.

In The Sprinkler We Go

Went over to my sister-in-law's house the other weekend to take family photos and had some fun sprinkler time afterwards to cool down.  This was Isaac's first experience with the sprinkler, and he just loved it!

He gets those eyelashes from his daddy, I love them.

Yeah, this is definitely my daughter, not a fan of sprinklers.  We're more kiddie pool kind of girls.

Such a nut. I think this face-plant in the sprinklers was an accident but it didn't scare him off, he's a tough kid.

My sweet nephew, such a cutie!

Summer's Flying

Summer is flying!  I was really looking forward to fireworks this year but missed it again because both kids (and me) got sick, so maybe next year. I've just been chilling at home mostly with the kiddos, did a few photo sessions, editing, the usual.  I really need to schedule time to do some fun family things before summer's up.  Here is just a little look at life lately.

Been real busy at the farm lately, picking strawberries, playing outside, housework, working on my photo biz... I always have something to do.   This summer is just going by way too fast.

My Boy is Getting Big!

I can't believe my boy is going potty now, and he's doing really well!  My husband brought in the potty chair after he turned one, and I thought it would be too early to even start!  But then I thought that we can work on getting him at least comfortable with sitting in the chair so he won't rebel and throw a fit later on down the road.

Isaac peed not too long after, we made a big deal, and it just clicked for him!  After about the tenth time of him peeing in the pot, I knew that he knew what he was doing and it wasn't just a coincidence.  Isaac is now 14 months and I am positive that he knows exactly what he's doing because he goes right away after he sits down.  He has gone #2 a few times, but he's not comfortable enough to do it a lot yet.

Now I'm starting to think that maybe we as parents are not starting early enough with potty training?  I don't know when other parents decide to start but I think it's somewhere around 2 years?  I personally started with my oldest Lucy at about 16 months and she was in underwear at 2 years and 3 months.  I do believe that Isaac's case is quite unusual, but maybe if we started early on, shortly after one, be consistent (very important) and encourage but not shame them, maybe training would be easier.

I know that Isaac could still be in diapers at 3 years (I hope not), but maybe he won't. When did/are you going to start potty training, and if you did, what challenges did you face?  Do you think my theory is crazy?  Please leave a comment down below and let me know,  I would love to hear what other mamas think on this issue.

Beautiful

DSC_0171re (800x533)

Life has been crazy lately and I've been pretty busy. Hopefully I'll find time to blog more later this week. For now, here is a photo of the lovely Lindsey! She had her baby about a week ago, a precious baby boy. Congrats! To see more of her session, head on over to my photography site HERE.

Spring Chicks

A few weeks ago we got some new baby chicks, just in time for spring!

I must admit, they're pretty cute.

Of course that was a few weeks ago, they are getting pretty big now, almost as big as chickens. They don't quite fit into the box much anymore, one hopped out yesterday and I picked it up and put it back in the box. Yup, you heard right, I'm turning into quite the country girl. Okay, not really, but I'm still pretty proud of myself.

A New Journey

This little blog of mine has been kind of quiet lately. I've been really busy working on my new photography website, and I am now ready to share!

It's not perfect yet, I'm still growing and learning but I'm trying to embrace the journey, my journey.
