Life Lately

DSC_0236re (800x400)
It's been a few days (okay, almost a week) since I've posted anything, so I thought I would keep you guys up-to-date on things.

We recently bought a dishwasher! You know, the ones with the wheels on it. I'm loving it! Now I am not the only dishwasher around here, and I can actually polish my nails and have the color last a couple days without it chipping off right away, awesome! And the really awesome part is that Chuck bought it at a thrift store for only $35. It's a little used but I just rinse the dishes really well before I put them in and they come out pretty clean.

Isaac loves the dishwasher too, and isn't his bed-head delicious?

Last weekend Chuck and I went out for a date night and we stayed over at a hotel while Grandma watched the kids. Holla!  (does anyone even say that anymore?)

It was amazing, I forgot was it was like to just be together and enjoy each other's company without the kids crying, getting up for night feedings (because yes, Isaac still does that, that whole sleeping through the night doesn't usually happen), and waking up really early the next morning.  We will definitely be doing that again, but not soon enough.

(sorry for poor cell phone quality, I forgot my camera)

Sad to say that whole giving up coffee for Lent was short lived.  The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. I still am giving up soda though, and I don't seem to crave it that much anymore, which is good because I know that soda is really bad for you. I'm sorry Jesus, but I need my coffee to make it through the day of dishes, laundry, and littles screaming and pulling on me. I think I will give up coffee during holy week, maybe.

We've been working on getting over a cold for a couple weeks, it's lingering.

Still waiting for spring here. It's supposed to be warming up this weekend, like, in the 40s or something, so that would be alright.

 How's life been treating you?

Just the Two of Us

DSC_0702re (800x533)

I've been dabbling in self-portraiture lately, here is one I took last weekend with Chuck.  I don't take nearly enough photos of him, and photos of us together are almost non-existent.

I know this sounds cliché, but if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself.

I've been working out again.  Just starting out slow, doing Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30.   Gotta get my body ready for all those swimsuits that I'm going to wear come summer time (note sarcasm).  I'm kinda obsessed with Jillian Michaels, I love and fear her at the same time.  So glad she's back on Biggest Loser.

Does anybody else love and hate Jillian workouts as much as I do?

Love My Babies

This is my life. Nothing special, just hanging out with my babies...with wet hair...in my yoga pants.

I love my babies.  Being a stay-at-home mom is hard, but I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

However, I think my wardrobe definitely needs an update.  Maybe soon.

Happy 8 months today to my boy!

Christmas Card Challenge

Chelsey over at The Paper Mama is hosting her annual "make your own holiday photo card challenge".  She's offering some awesome prizes for the winners, but I probably would participate anyway, because this challenge is just so fun.

This year I was blessed to have another little one to add into the card, it will be Isaac's first Christmas.

So the idea came to me while I was in the shower (as all good ideas usually do).

I had a vision for how this was all going to go down (which I thought would include some bad 4 year-old acting), but it honestly turned out better than I had imagined.  My daughter Lucy was literally upset that Isaac was trying to eat the cookies instead of the crackers I pulled out for him.

And I just kept snapping away with my wireless remote (bad mama).

Enjoy my friends.

(note: no children were harmed in the making of this Christmas card)

Happy Feast Day of St. Nicholas!

Some Selfies With My Littles

DSC_0735re (825x550)

Yesterday was cloudy and gloomy.  So instead of cleaning, I showered, dressed in clothes other than sweatpants, put on makeup, and took some self-portraits with the littles.

I need more practice, can ya tell? Most of the photos were either out of focus or faces were cropped out, but I like them just the same. Anything to get out of cleaning and laundry, right? Right?

funny faces
And of course some outtakes.

And one more of just me, I kinda like it.

Pumpkin Patch with my Girl

My girl has been a feeling a little neglected lately, so last Sunday while Isaac was napping daddy watched football and mommy took Lucy to a pumpkin patch for some quality girl time.

I even used the self-timer and got in a couple shots, it was a fun afternoon with my girl and my camera.  And aren't you just loving the orange socks, she picked them out herself.  Can't believe she is going to be turning four in about a week.

Some Cell Pics

I don't always have my Nikon handy to capture the sweet day-to-day moments, but my cell doesn't do too bad job.

cell phone pics

1st row:  We went to a Halloween party last weekend, Lucy was a puppy and Isaac was a Green Bay Packer football player.  It was cold and a little rainy, but we had fun anyway.

2nd row:  At the farm playing with one of the barn kittens, Lucy named him (or her, not sure) Jaguar.

3rd row:  My boy never cuddles with me, but yesterday he popped two teeth, so he was feeling pretty miserable.  Sorry you weren't feeling well baby, but I was enjoying this sweet cuddle time last night.

Life lately has been busy, still relying strongly on my coffee to keep me going.  Isaac wakes up about 2-3 times a night to feed, but I guess that it's a good thing because it is keeping my milk supply...existent?  I don't have a good milk supply, and I get so jealous/upset at women who complain of having too much milk. And I've been feeding him solids 3x a day, I can't keep up with this hungry boy.  Baby boys sure are different than girls.

My little apartment is such a mess right now, and it's mostly my fault because I'm so lazy.  For example, me and Lucy are still in our jammies and it's almost noon.  Isaac would be in his pajamas too if he didn't poop through his sleeper outfit this morning.  I would just rather be doing...well...almost anything else than cleaning and laundry, like blogging or napping (I love sleeping).  But I am not going to decorate for fall until it's clean around here, so hopefully that will motivate me?  Probably not.

I got my haircut too recently, don't know if you can tell from the photos.  I suppose I need to take a decent looking selfie, maybe with my kids this weekend if the weather is nice and not too cold.

Enough rambling...later.

Postpartum Stuff

I think I may have been going through a little postpartum depression for the past few weeks now. I feel overwhelmed, anxious, and of course, depressed.  It's not constant, but it comes in waves. Probably due to the usual new mommy stuff, lack of sleep, a sometimes crying colicky baby, having a 3 year-old who won't let baby take proper naps because she is...well...your average 3 year-old, not having any clothes that fit properly because of a tummy and boobs that are 3x their normal size, things like that.

We are also in the process of moving. And we have a problem with wasps, they keep coming into my girl's room of our apartment, not good for someone with a slight phobia of bees (me), 2 kids, and I have no idea if either of them are allergic. I think I finally figured out where they were coming in, but we'll have to wait a few days and see. Thank the Lord nobody has been stung. And on top of all that, our new neighbor across the way does pot, same as our last neighbor. So I really can't wait to get out of here, but can't seem to find the time to pack boxes, let alone do dishes and go up and down 3 flights of stairs to do the laundry.

PicMonkey Collage2
yeah, this tired mama needs a makeover

As I said, the feelings come in waves.  Hopefully things will calm down soon after the move and I'll be able to breathe again. Sleep on the other hand, I don't think I will ever sleep well again.  Thank goodness for the invention of the baby swing, my son loves it, and it helps this mama sleep a little bit at night.

Baby Isaac is getting so big, he's 2 months now. I call him my chunky monkey. Lucy is getting a little better with him, but we still need to work with her being more gentle and not getting so much in his space. I get real frustrated with her at times, please God grant me patience. They are cute together and Isaac is really starting to warm up to her.  Lucy said they are going to be friends, I hope that's true.
